Surfing

The Best surf beach is at Arugam Bay on the east coast - surf's up from April to September. Guesthouses and surf shops hre can give adviceon other surf breaks along this coast. Kirinda near Tissamaharama is another option. On the west coast and south coast, the best time to surf is from November to April. Hikkaduwa is a long-time favourite for international surfers, and offers gentle breaks for novices (grommets in Australian parlance). Mirissa is becomin popular too. The point at Midigama further down the west coast is another good, if more isolated, spot.

Ballooning
